Posted by Jay Dill at Jul 29, 2014 10:16 AM |

GOOD NEWS!!!

Since we will have certified lifeguards available to work, the Kinsley Swimming Pool will remain open on weekends thru Labor Day, Monday, September 1st.

The last week of regular operation will end on Sunday August, 10th, as school starts that next week.  However, for the next three weekends the pool will be open.  Evening Pool Parties will be an option only if guards are available to work that night so if you are interested talk to Pool Manager Terri Parry as soon as possible.

Also, Saturday, August 30th, in conjunction with the Kinsley All School Reunion, admission to the pool will be free to everyone!

CITY OF KINSLEY FIREWORKS REGULATIONS

Posted by Jay Dill at Jun 20, 2014 02:15 PM |

With the 4th of July holiday approaching it’s important to keep these rules in mind to make Independence Day 2014 a safe and happy holiday.

It is unlawful to set off fireworks within the City of Kinsley EXCEPT IN THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED AREA, AND DURING THE FOLLOWING DATES AND HOURS:

Within that area of South Park, bordered to the North by 12th Street, to the South by the dirt road running east and west directly north of the football field, to the East by Briggs Avenue, and to the West by US Highway 183.

However, fireworks are prohibited in the entire area around the swimming pool and the all of the fairgrounds.

These regulations are in effect from noon June 27th until midnight July 4th.  Fireworks may not be set off after midnight of any day during the period.

Also, please refrain from setting off fireworks during the 4th of July Display put on by the Kinsley Fire Department and clean up all trash left from your fireworks.

4th of July Fireworks are as American as Hotdogs and Apple Pie, but let’s not forget they can be dangerous to both people and property.  Don’t let a careless moment ruin the holiday for you or those around you

City Projects Update

Posted by Jay Dill at May 21, 2014 10:20 AM |

The Kinsley City Commission would like to thank the citizens and merchants of Kinsley for their patience and understanding during the recent waterline replacement project.  While we understand there were inconveniences and frustrations the project allowed us to replace nearly 8000 linear feet of water line, some of which dated back to the 1880s.  We also replaced 40 fire hydrants during the project.

The project, which was accomplished with the aid of a $500,000.00 Community Development Block Grant, administered by Edwards County Economic Development Director Linette Miller, and a loan from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s Public Water Supply Section was much needed to ensure our ability to provide a reliable water supply to our community.

As we look to the future there are currently Kansas Department of Transportation projects in the works to completely rehabilitate, including curbs and guttering, the portions of US Highways 56 and 183 in Kinsley.   Those projects, in which we hope to include additional water line replacement, are scheduled to take place in 2017 and 2018 and will once again provide challenges to daily life in Kinsley.

Once again we thank you for your cooperation during the recent project and look forward to working with you in the days ahead.
